Name: Credence Barebone.
Canon: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
Canon Point: Late act 3 but before getting attempted-murdered by aurors.
Age: ~22.

Personality: HOO BOY. After years and years of mental and physical abuse at the hands of Mary Lou Barebone (his adoptive "mother"), Credence is painfully shy and timid. He won't stand up for himself and he's super passive, almost spineless. It's not of his own wishes, and when his obscurus gets let out in fits of upset or anger, it's violent and murderous. He doesn't like that it happens but with intense betrayal or hurt he's willing to let it out. Credence is very anxiety-ridden and does a lot to keep under the radar - he's afraid of his mother, of crowds, of people in positions of authority, and of being in situations he's not used to. He's lonely and desperate for any kind of affection, which makes him vulnerable to manipulation by anyone that is willing to show him any. He's more wary now after being burned by trusting Grindelwald, but the potential is still there.
He's bad at social situations but he tries his best. He's observant, intelligent, polite, and keeps to the social norms of the society he hails from. Someone being kind to him is enough to bind him to them forever and he'll be faithful until death or their betrayal.
Setting: • He's going to be fascinated with learning the technology and ways of the place once he calms down.
• He's incredibly intelligent despite being almost terminally shy and he'd be able to learn and fit into most jobs.
• He's going to need to learn how to control his magic so that he can be a functioning member of society, but he's desperate to learn.
Abilities/Skills: Credence's "abilities" are simple: he's able to keep himself from being noticed, he's able to withstand pain after years of abuse, and he has an obscurus form that's incredibly dark and powerful and deadly: a black parasitic force that will destroy and kill anything or anyone in its path if left unchecked. However, if credence can be calmed down then it will even out and filter back into him. That's... honestly about it. He's very smart and very observant and he's adept at things like cleaning, cooking, and caring for children.
Strengths/Weaknesses: Strengths: smart, kind, observant, polite, hard-working, a quick learner, high pain tolerance (yes that is a strength), follows rules, a willingness to try and learn anything he has to.
Weaknesses: shy, anxious, timid, self-depreciating, too trusting, will work himself too hard, terrified of breaking rules, can potentially lose control of his obscurus.

[ credence has learned from the helpful staff (?) how to use the tab properly. so when credence filters into view it's not perfect but it's without much of the fumbling that may otherwise be expected to be present from a young man living in 1920s new york. he still looks nervous though, one hand smoothing down choppily-cut black hair that won't stay in place because it's threatening to curl. he looks like a young man that's unerringly polite though his gaze flickers aside, off-camera, as though he's looking at something behind it.
finally, he looks back and chews on his lip briefly. ] Hello.
[ good job credence, you said one word! ] My name is Credence. I was wondering if anyone knew how to look for someone they know but might not be here?
